THE National Registry of Motor Vehicles, also known as Renavam, works like the “CPF” of a vehicle, providing all of its information since its manufacture.
Through the history, it is possible to know how many owners the vehicle in question has had, if there have been any collisions, modifications, if there are any fines, registered debts, recalls, theft, robbery, restrictions, judicial blockages and consult all the information that is considered relevant.
The Renavam code is formed by 11 digits developed by Serpro and is valid throughout Brazil, the main function of Renamed is to keep all records linked by the units of the DMV (National Traffic Department) of all states, thus centralized by the central unit – Denatran.
To make the query, you must have the vehicle's Renavam code on hand, this number is found in Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV).

As Renavam is considered very important data about a vehicle, not everyone can access it easily. Normally, to check a vehicle's history, it is necessary to have important data on hand that belongs to the people responsible for a car, for example.
However, there are companies that sell vehicle insurance that provide the Renavam history of a vehicle just by the license plate, but this service is charged.
