From a simple family, she was born and raised on the state's rubber plantations and, after becoming a widow, found herself alone to raise her three daughters.

She resorted to what she knew how to do: planting

Using land as a source of income – an activity passed down from generation to generation.

A rural producer with roots, she grew up without knowing what pesticides were – what she now calls poison – and cultivated organic produce, even before the word became so viral.

And G1, during Women's Week, tells the story of this producer who, with the help of her daughter, decided to innovate.

“We have always produced everything naturally. We didn’t even know that poison existed on these rubber plantations.

We did organic production without even knowing what it was,” he recalls.

Today, she works on land of almost 9 hectares – nine football fields with various types of crops that not even she knows exactly how many.

Like many producers, young Nazira relies on organic markets in Rio Branco to sell her products, but some time ago, she received help from her daughter to try a new alternative.

Products grown by Nazira and other producers are sold in municipal markets Personal archive Modernity Fabiana Nascimento, 37 years old, is the second of the producer's three daughters.

Last year, encouraged by her mother's story, which is similar to her own, she graduated in a technical course in agribusiness.

Seeing the difficulty of transporting the production and the sacrifice her mother made to be present at the fairs that usually take place in the municipal markets of Rio Branco, Fabiana decided to suggest to her mother that she use social media to support this work.

According to Fabiana, the project is the union of the traditional with the modern. And no one said there wouldn't be resistance.

Business-based TCC

“I decided to do something not so different, but just so I could see my mother having more time to live her life. Because the garden takes up a lot of our time, I thought it would be a good idea. So instead of going to the market, we could work with deliveries because it would be a way to avoid losses on the weekends when sales at the market weren’t so good,” says the young woman.

The contact she was able to have at the fair led Nazira to create a network of loyal customers.

“At first, my mother was hesitant, saying it wouldn’t work and so on.

So, recently, I did my TCC [Course Completion Project] based on a business plan focused on deliveries, so I showed her, in numbers, that it worked and worked very well”, she recalls excitedly.

And, in March of last year, the ACS Amazônia profile was created, which publicizes the delivery of organic baskets, but, more than that, encourages organic production and defends territories where family farming is present.

With products, baskets are assembled and delivered to homes Personal archive Sales network Fabiana's idea. Recently graduated and eager to put everything into practice, she made it possible for other producers, most of them women, to also benefit.

But how did this happen? “By working with deliveries we wouldn’t have any kind of damage or leftovers, since they would be advance sales.

The Deliveries

And, since we already had a considerable number of clients, I told them that we would work with deliveries and everyone immediately liked the idea. Although little by little, I started putting it into practice, already knowing that from one moment to the next sales would increase.

I spoke to other young producers, who are also certified as organic, to get the other products from them,” explains Fabiana.

This is how she created a kind of chain that benefits other people who, like her mother, live off family farming.

This way, the baskets can have more variety.

“I thought it would be good for other producers too, as it would increase their sales, so we combined business with pleasure,” he adds.

Deliveries are made once a week, and for now Fabiana is responsible for controlling the orders and delivering the baskets. In the meantime, her mother can stay on the farm and take care of the crops.

Miscellaneous sales

Each month, an average of 60 baskets are sold at varying prices depending on what the customer orders.

Products are grown organically in Rio Branco Fabiana Nascimento/Personal archive 'We're just getting on with it' Regarding her young daughter's idea, Nazira says she was happy to be able to optimize her time and also the products she grows.

As deliveries are made to order, there are no more leftovers, which end up becoming a loss.

“When we went to the fair [in the center of the capital] the farm was left alone.

The car that takes us there was often no good. Although the branch line was no good, I was about to give up and that was when she came up with the idea of delivery.

We only take what is necessary, we don’t need to stay awake all night and all day”, he explains.

Field work

Working in the fields is the only way for her to keep herself busy while she is young.

When asked if she suffers any type of discrimination or segregation for taking care of such a large area alone, she says that it is common in the region for women to take charge of production.

“I was born and raised on the rubber plantation and my group here is mostly made up of women and we manage with difficulty.

Sometimes, of course, you need to hire someone to do the heavier work, but I'm the one who takes care of everything,” she concludes proudly.
