Tomorrow flu vaccination returns to Rio de Janeiro 06-04-2020

The Mayor of Rio announced the arrival of 265,000 doses. The vaccination campaign currently includes people over 60 years of age and health professionals.

The flu vaccination campaign will resume in the state of Rio de Janeiro at city hall units. Last night (5), through a live broadcast, the mayor of Rio, Marcelo Crivella, announced the arrival in the city of 256 thousand doses of vaccine.

On Thursday (2), the campaign had been suspended due to a lack of doses.

Also in the broadcast, Patrícia Guttmann, Health Surveillance coordinator at the Municipal Health Department (SMS), pointed out that during today (6), the doses will be distributed so that the work can continue from tomorrow (7).

“We are receiving the vaccines, the units are being restocked and things will be back to normal on Tuesday. We will have the drive thru at Detran and we will resume vaccination at the units. Keeping the vaccination of those over 80 years old at home, prioritizing nursing homes and long-term care units for the elderly”, informed Patrícia.

Campaign

In this first phase of the campaign, people over 60 years of age and all health professionals are included. According to the SMS, 807 thousand doses were administered during the period of its weeks, reaching 75% of the target audience.

Vaccination is offered at 233 Primary Care units, which include municipal health centers and family clinics. The five Detran-RJ posts that are open from 10 am to 3 pm are also an option. Vaccination is available at drive thru the Detran offices in Campo Grande, Governor's Island, Barra da Tijuca, Largo do Machado and Tijuca.

There will be no more vaccinations at Riocentro.

The 35,000 elderly people over 80 years old who are registered at family clinics are being vaccinated at home.
