With the coronavirus pandemic, Brazil is creating Field Hospitals to treat specific patients with the virus. Some locations are serving as facilities, such as soccer stadiums and even schools, as is the case in Ipatinga.

In Ipatinga, in the interior of Minas Gerais, the city hall then began to implement the hospital at the Canuta Rosa State School, with the aim of serving the entire micro-region that is part of 13 cities in the Vale do Aço region.

The Field Hospital is expected to be ready by the second half of April. This is also the peak period of the virus in Brazil, according to data. Initially, they expect to treat up to 200 people with symptoms.

The school has 20 large classrooms, each with a capacity of 10 beds. Initially, the estimate will be for 200 beds. However, capacity can reach up to 300 beds. These additional 100 beds can be improvised in the school's covered gymnasium.

Due to its location, the structure of its rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and proximity to SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service), it has precisely what it needs to house the hospital, which needs to serve the region's population. Furthermore, the state is evaluating the need to obtain 120 ventilators through the GRS Regional Health Management.

In addition to working to secure beds, healthcare professionals are being trained to meet patient demand during the pandemic.

The "Brasil Conte Com a Gente" program is currently analyzing the possibility of providing student labor. Students about to graduate from the Ipatinga medical school program are expected to provide assistance in the beds currently being prepared.

Ipatinga, a regional benchmark among 13 cities considered microregions, needs to prepare teams, stretchers, and materials to serve the population. These cities can provide assistance with resources, including materials, professionals, and other resources.
