Bahia: more than R$100 million released to face the pandemic

Bahia will receive more than R$100 million, thus strengthening the public coffers of the state and municipalities of Bahia. In an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union, published on the evening of last Thursday (9), the Ministry of Health published an ordinance that releases the mentioned amount. At a national level, the number reaches R$4 billion.

Ilhéus, which recorded the first death of a patient with COVID-19 last Thursday (9), will be receiving around R$3 million.

A list with the amounts for all municipalities was made available by the Ministry of Health. The amount allocated to the state government will reach R$114 million.

This money should be used to purchase materials and supplies, open beds, and cover the cost of health professionals, according to local needs, as defined by the ordinance.

The Ministry of Health states in a note that the amount released corresponds to a monthly portion of what each state or municipality already receives for medium and high complexity actions or primary care.

Municipalities that receive resources for medium and high complexity will be entitled to an additional monthly installment of an equivalent amount. Those that do not receive it will be entitled to the amount transferred to primary care, also in the same amount.

According to the most recent bulletin from the State Health Department (Sesab), Bahia has recorded 568 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 19 deaths. Of these, 43 are health professionals.

Furthermore, up until the last bulletin, 3,404 cases were discarded, 146 people have recovered and 51 people are hospitalized, 26 of whom are in the ICU.
