In an interview given to Folha de São Paulo this Monday (20), scientist Derek Lowe says that no medicine will be the cure for Covid-19, we should only hope for a cure coming through the vaccine.
In Brazil, there is a lot of talk about a possible cure through medications such as chloroquine and deworming. Nitazoxanide (annite) as an “effective” treatment against Covid-19, however, what experts around the world say is that this is not really effective, because the new coronavirus is a powerful virus.
But why do people in Brazil still think that what is happening in the country is not so serious and that it can be cured with a simple medicine available in pharmacies? It is a complex question, and we here at the Digital Seguro portal do not have an answer, but let's talk a little about what Derek Lowe has to say about everything that has been researched.

Covid-19 when will the possible cure come out?
This week, in an exclusive interview with Folha de São Paulo, scientist Lowe from Duke University stated that there is no substance that appears promising against the disease so far and that, although many drugs are being tested against the new virus, none of them are expected to be the cure for Covid-19.
“Without a doubt, the vaccine is a much better hope.”
The scientist stated that he is not sure if there is already a possible cure in progress, all we have are tests, possibilities, we have no evidence of promising cures.
In the interview, he clarified that remdesivir and other antivirals from past epidemics do not appear to be very strong.
As far as the latest studies go, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are not even well characterized as antivirals and they haven't had much effect when you look at controlled trials. There are some other compounds, like alvesco (ciclesonide), that are being tested, but we don't have data.
