Covid-19 deaths in Brazil are faster than in Spain

In an attempt to alert the country to an imminent collapse in relation to Covid-19, 7 experts from different institutions measured the 'speed' of the disease in the country; in other words, the time it takes for the virus to double the number of deaths, but will the authorities give importance to these studies?

If anti-scientific distrust continues, Brazil runs the risk of repeating the situation of Europe and the USA, but you won't let that happen, will you?

To the government's concern, the number of deaths from coronavirus is only in Brazil at a faster rate than that recorded in Spain when the European country was in the same phase of the pandemic, two weeks ago.

Covid-19 outbreak and deaths in Brazil

Based on information from the Ministry of Health, the Covid-19 BR Observatory, which is made up of experts from seven universities, measured the speed of the disease in Brazil and compared it with that of other countries.

The study showed that the time it takes for the coronavirus to double the number of deaths. As of this Wednesday (22), more than 2,900 people had died from Covid-19 in Brazil.

Coronavirus – information from the observatory

The research alerts us with concrete data. The time it took for the number of deaths from Covid-19 to double in Brazil was 9 days and 14 hours. In Spain, in the same period, this number was 12 days and 7 hours two weeks ago.
Researchers said the lower this range, the more lethal the pandemic is in the country.

But after all, how are we?

It's hard to answer. According to official data provided by ministries and city departments, the situation in Brazil is worse than that of Spain when comparing corresponding periods of the coronavirus's advance.
The comparison must be made based on different dates because the pandemic in Europe began to kill earlier.

Vítor Sudbrack, a member of the observatory and a physicist at the State University of São Paulo (Unesp), explains to G1 that calculations in each country begin five days after the tenth death.

According to the study: Brazil was, on Tuesday, on the 28th day of the series.
and Spain was on day 40 – there, day 28 was April 8. It's really scary, we should start following the isolation measures as soon as possible.
