Brazil has more than 400 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours

The Ministry of Health currently records a frightening total of 51,073 cases of coronavirus deaths in Brazil and 3,313 deaths as of 2 pm this past Thursday (23), according to information provided by the State Health Departments.

Regarding deaths, the new Minister of Health said that “we evaluate what is happening every day, until this afternoon and, based on the new data, we define new actions”, he emphasized.

With the arrival of more diagnostic tests in the states and improved laboratory flow, this wait for results has been reduced. To give you an idea, of the 407 deaths confirmed today by COVID-19, 112 occurred in the last three days and the rest (295) occurred before that period.

Brazil has gained additional beds, says the Ministry of Health.

It was announced this Thursday (23), the qualification of 1,134 ICU beds exclusively for the care of serious or critical coronavirus patients. This number is in addition to the 322 beds qualified on two other occasions in April. With this, the country now has an increase of 1,456 ICU beds in the fight against the pandemic.

He finished by saying:

“We have carried out the qualifications today for the most diverse states and this will represent an investment by the Federal Government of R$163.6 million over the next 90 days,” highlighted Minister Nelson Teich, during a press conference at the Planalto Palace, in Brasília. The amount will be transferred to the states and municipalities.
