Accounting consultant, Cássius Pimenta, explains that filling out the form is simple, even in both taxation models: simplified or complete.

“At the beginning, guidance is provided on these forms of taxation and, at the end, the taxpayer can choose the most favorable option,” explains Cássio Pimenta.

“It is also possible to import data from the declaration made in 2019. If it has been corrected, it is necessary to replace the information with that which is on the receipt from the last online correction.”

When to submit the declaration?

The consultant advises taxpayers to submit the declaration at the beginning of the deadline to obtain another advantage, thus receiving the Income Tax refund sooner.

Therefore, the elderly, those with serious illnesses and those with physical or mental disabilities have priority in the payment queue that begins in May. “Those who do not settle their accounts with the tax authorities within the deadline will have to pay a fine of at least R$165.74. The maximum amount corresponds to R$201.3T of the tax due,” he emphasizes.

Another recommendation is to check the advantage of opting for the simplified declaration, giving up all deductions allowed by tax legislation, such as expenses with education and health.

On the other hand, explains Cássio Pimenta, one is entitled to a deduction of 20% from the value of taxable income, limited to R$ 16,754.34, the same value as last year.

Who should declare?

Anyone who received taxable income above R$28,559.70 in 2019 must declare their income tax this year. The amount is the same as the income tax declaration for the last two years.

Taxpayers who received exempt income, the sum of which was greater than R$1,000,000 last year, must also declare.
