Faced with such a complicated situation that the world has been going through in recent years, the Government of São Paulo has performed a very commendable job, as a truly conscientious decision in the face of a serious moment like this.
Currently, the São Paulo government is led by Dória, who made an important decision to exempt poor communities from paying water bills in April, May and June.
According to official information from the Government of SP (and the SP secretariat), the determination was published last Friday (3) in the Official Gazette; the government has already suspended the collection of Sabesp's social water tariff for 506 thousand families.

Understand the Dória government's decision
On the last Friday of April, the São Paulo state government exempted residents of communities from paying their water bills for the months of April, May, and June. The ruling was published this Friday in the Official Gazette.
According to what was published, “the payment of water and sewage bills/invoices due in April, May and June 2020 for users classified in the social residential and favela residential categories is exempt”.
As we know, last Thursday (19), the government had already announced the suspension of the Sabesp social water tariff for 506 thousand families who pay social tariffs. The tariff will not be charged from April 1st and is valid for 90 days for the entire state.
São Paulo Government – updates on coronavirus deaths
As we mentioned in the last article, the São Paulo State Health Department registered 219 deaths related to the new coronavirus this Friday (3).
This is very worrying, as the number is three times higher than last Friday's (68 deaths). Confirmed cases have also quadrupled, jumping from 1,223 to 4,048.
On March 24, the Dória government declared a quarantine that will last until April 7. The measure requires businesses to close and only essential services, such as health and safety, remain open.
