With the widespread contamination of the coronavirus spreading across the world, at least four countries have requested the import of masks produced in Brazil.
CNN was able to access the letters that arrived in Brazilian embassy, requesting masks, the countries are United Arab Emirates, Italy, Peru and Israel.
The four countries that import Brazilian masks
The four countries contacted Brazil starting on March 27, with ambassadors such as Francesco Azzarello from Italy and Javier Yépez Verdeguer from Peru. The same day, the embassy of the United Arab Emirates and three days later the embassy of Israel, at the request of the Ministry of Economy.
Thus, the Italians asked for a quantity of 300 thousand masks, the Peruvians a batch of 45 thousand, the Israelis bought 140 thousand masks, now the Emirates, did not specify the amount.
According to CNN, in conversation with the Israeli government, they said that they do not intend to pressure Brazil if the country does not have enough stock to meet the needs of its population.
The Emirates reported not receiving a response from the Ministry of Economy, but believes in a pleasant relationship with President Bolsonaro.
The Peruvian embassy believes in the camaraderie and solidarity between the two neighboring countries. Italy also believes in Brazil's solidarity in helping countries in need at this difficult time.
The Ministry of Economy is studying how to work at this time, between supply and demand for products on the Brazilian market.
In contrast, the government in Brazil is seeking to maintain the economy by importing inputs for the production of products that combat the coronavirus. President Bolsonaro, in contact with India, is seeking to maintain the import of inputs for the pharmaceutical sector. This is with the aim of producing chloroquine, a medicine that is said to be able to combat the virus.
Although India has banned exports, the Indian government says there may still be exceptions on a case-by-case basis. The Health Ministry is receiving help from the Foreign Ministry to obtain supplies from abroad.
