For those looking to take out a mortgage, this period of global health crisis may be an opportunity, as many banks are reviewing their policies and their stance on the crisis.
We had already talked here before about the new measures that the country's major banks were taking, including Banco Bradesco, Banco Santander, and Banco do Brasil, and of course, Caixa had also signaled that it would make changes in this sector.
However, many of us had no idea that changes like this would come so quickly and so brutally (in the sense of breaking old billing patterns) as we are seeing. Many people weren't counting on this emergency aid of R$600 that many have already started receiving.
Indeed, the novel coronavirus pandemic has proven to be more serious than anyone imagined. Deaths are occurring, and power structures are being shaken—this is one of the reasons Caixa has been concerned about adapting to the crisis as best it can.
The new measures adopted by the bank are valid from next Monday, April 13, 2020.

New measures for real estate financing
In an official statement, Caixa Econômica Federal announced that new real estate financing contracts signed from next Monday (13) will have a six-month grace period for payment.
Therefore, during this period, individuals will not need to pay installments. This new measure has been widely praised by various sectors, and the bank has demonstrated its support for the population.
Caixa president Pedro Guimarães reported on social media that, for old real estate contracts for individuals, the suspension period of up to 3 months for payment of installments remains in place, however, this period may be extended if the crisis worsens further.
Caixa property financing – important considerations
He explained that if there is a more severe crisis, an assessment will be made to extend the payment suspension period to four months.
But it is worth remembering that to find out more information about the new measures:
The recommendation is to use the channels that are available online, such as internet banking, mobile applications, such as “Habitação CAIXA”, in addition, there are also telephone numbers 3004-1105 and 0800 726 0505. To renegotiate contracts, the customer can contact us by telephone 0800 726 8068.
Other important measures by Caixa Econômica Federal
Caixa customers can use the account linked to the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) to pay part of the installment.
Caixa also reported that customers who are up to date with their payments or have up to two installments in arrears may opt for partial payment of the financing installment, over 90 days;
Another important piece of information regarding these new measures is that customers who build with financing from Caixa (individual construction) will be allowed early release of up to two installments, without an inspection;
So, did you like it? Then share it, because these steps are very important for anyone who wants or is applying for financing.
