What is Emergency Aid?

THE Emergency Aid is a benefit established by Brazilian Government to help several informal workers, microentrepreneurs and low-income families with financial aid of R$1,600 per month during the pandemic.

Who is entitled to Emergency Aid?

All informal workers, self-employed workers, individual microentrepreneurs (MEI) and also members of needy families who do not have an income that exceeds one and a half minimum wages, may be entitled to receive the Emergency Aid. 

Currently, new registrations are no longer accepted for the 2021 Emergency Aid, however, if you registered in 2020, you will already be entitled to continue receiving this benefit.

How do I know if I will receive the 2021 Emergency Aid?

Monday to Provisional Measure 1,039/2021, only one person in the family can receive the aid in 2021, which will be approximately R$375.00 for women who are heads of households and R$150.00 for a low-income person who lives alone. Others, such as microentrepreneurs, self-employed workers and informal workers, can receive approximately R$250.00.

But to receive the 2021 Emergency Aid You must meet certain requirements, such as being over 18 years old, not having a formal job, not having a family income above half the minimum wage, and not having one of the family members earn more than three minimum wages. To be eligible for this year's aid, you must have received at least the last installment in December 2020.

Furthermore, those who already receive the Family Allowance can choose to receive the aid if the amount is greater than that already received in the program. The installments are deposited directly into the account in which they already receive the government benefit.

Those interested in knowing whether the aid will be available in their name must wait for an analysis of the Dataprev which will inform those who will be able to receive this year's aid, which will be available from April onwards.

To check whether you or a family member will receive the benefit, visit the website Dataprev, enter your details, such as CPF, parents' names, full name and date of birth. 

Furthermore, those who have already signed up to receive the Emergency Aid in 2020, you can access the application Has Box, available for iOS and Android, and check whether the installments have been deposited into your account.
