How Bolsa Família works 

Many studies have already shown that the Family Grant Program in fact has a very important role in reducing social inequality in Brazil, according to the 4th National Monitoring Report on the Millennium Development Goals.

Therefore, the program includes three main aspects: complementary programs, income transfer and conditionalities. 

You complementary programs They work on the development of the families involved with the aim of reducing the vulnerability of their members. 

In the conditionalities access to human rights are strengthened, such as access to education, health and access to social services. Already in Income Transfer payment of agreed amounts is made according to the program to offer immediate relief. 

Who can access the program?

As the program is aimed at providing financial support to families that are in a situation of economic vulnerability, it is necessary to meet certain requirements, such as:

– Family groups living in poverty or extreme poverty. In other words, people who receive between R$$ 89.01 and R$$ 178.00 per family member. 

– To participate in the program, the family must have children and adolescents aged 0 to 17 and/or pregnant women. 

– It is necessary to be registered in the Single Registry. 

How to register for Bolsa Família

Now that you know who can participate in the program, if you fit the profile defined by Federal Government, simply go in person to the department responsible for Bolsa Família accreditation in your municipality, bringing all the required documents. 

This way, they will register the family and send it for analysis. Every month, the Federal Government releases the benefit for new members.

Mandatory documents 

It is essential to gather all these documents and take them to the department responsible for registration in your municipality. Important: Bring the original documents and at least one copy of each:

– Personal Identification Card (RG)

– CPF

– Birth Certificate

– Marriage Certificate

– Voter Registration Card

– Work Permit

– Proof of residence – energy or water bill, for example.

This question may arise when registering for Bolsa Família, but to clarify this doubt, just call the following number: 0800 707 2003 – which offers service from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
