Covid-19 has already impacted millions of families around the world, and of course, in Brazil it would be no different, which is why the Federal Government felt obliged to take more concrete actions to help the people who were impacted.
The statement confirming the action was given by Damares at a press conference held at the Planalto Palace. She said:
“All villages, including isolated communities, will be reached with assistance at this time”

Federal Government – baskets for needy communities
This week, the federal government stated that it will begin distributing 323,400 food baskets to assist vulnerable populations — indigenous peoples, quilombolas and settlers — during the new coronavirus pandemic.
There are no plans, according to the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights, to make new purchases until the end of this year.
In the past this action had already been repeated.
It is not something exclusive to this government, in 2013 (the year of Fora-Dilma) the action had already been carried out, it was the first year with data made available by Conab (National Supply Company), the government provided vulnerable families with 1.6 million baskets — the highest record in the series.
Later, we had 1.16 million in 2015. Since then, the distribution has not surpassed the 1 million basket mark. In 2017, there was the lowest supply of baskets: 273 thousand.
What will be distributed in the baskets?
According to the Government, there will be eight items in total, weighing up to 22 kg. The baskets contain beans, soybean oil, pasta, cornmeal or corn flakes, cassava or wheat flour, rice, sugar and powdered milk.
But it is worth remembering that the cost is approximately R$$ 90 and they will only arrive in the communities in May.
Damares Alves (Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights) was present at the launch of the Brasil Acolhedor project, on the 13th, which will also help homeless people, people with disabilities and elderly people living in nursing homes in a second stage of the action.
