Who must file an income tax return in 2023?
I believe this is a question that many people ask: should I file an income tax return or not?
Don’t worry because we’re going to clear up this doubt once and for all now.
The Federal Revenue Service publishes the rules at the beginning of the year and taxpayers can consult the information directly on the website.
Therefore, they need declare tax of Income people who had taxable income (salary, bonuses, others) greater than R$ 28,559.70.
According to data from the IRS, in 2022 around 36 million Brazilians filed their Income Tax return.
Because of this, the IRS extended the delivery deadline that year from March to May.
This year there is still no set number of people who will declare taxes, but those who continue to receive one and a half minimum wages are exempt.
In this way, they must declare tax of income in 2023 people who:
- had taxable income above R$ 28,559.70, which corresponds to R$ 2,380 in the month;
- who received exempt, non-taxable income or income taxed exclusively at source above R$ 40 thousand;
- people who made a profit from the sale of goods;
- who carried out operations on the stock exchange;
- people with income from rural activities above R$ 142,798.50 and
