The owner of a butcher shop in Jataí, in the southwest of Goiás, distributed 33 100 ml jars of alcohol gel for the population. The bottles were left on a table at the entrance of the establishment and were gone in less than an hour.
The butcher's owner, Ricardo Dantas, 32, says the move was motivated by the high price, which led to the product's unavailability in the city's stores. However, the product is recommended by health authorities for hand hygiene as a coronavirus preventative measure.

High prices
"Pharmacies are charging around R$1,400 for the product. It's very expensive and I think it's unfair to the public. I thought it was fair to share it with others," explains Dantas.
Although the free delivery of the product took place on the morning of this Thursday (19) and, according to the owner of the store, it may continue from next week. Ricardo Dantas placed an order for alcohol gel with the distributor, who should make the delivery soon.
"If we reach the quantity we requested, I will buy more 100 ml bottles and make more bottles available here at the store entrance," guarantees Dantas.
Stock
Ricardo Dantas's meat shop, Vale da Pedra Foods, uses large amounts of hand sanitizer because of its deboning area. "Every employee must sanitize their hands upon entering and leaving the room," explains the owner.
Before the government announced the Covid-19 pandemic, Dantas had purchased two large gallons of the product for internal use, but when faced with high prices and unavailability in municipal stores, the businessman decided to help those who could not afford to buy hand sanitizer.
In short, the butcher's owner made 33 100 ml packages available this Thursday (19), which ran out in an hour. According to the owner, the product supply should continue to help the population.
