In Taboão da Serra, coronavirus infections exceed 100 cases

The number of people infected with coronavirus in São Paulo has already reached a worrying number, and there are some regions where this is being expressed in a completely frightening way, but the good news is that a lot is being done.

This week, the daily bulletin from the Taboão da Serra health department, which was released over the last 24 days, confirmed that the municipality surpassed the mark of 100 confirmed cases of coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

The region is worrying authorities. Taboão da Serra has already had 429 notifications, of which 129 were discarded, 101 cases were confirmed and 189 are still ongoing. In total, the city has recorded nine deaths.

Many people in the region were not giving much credibility or importance to the new Covid-19, however, when the problem started to appear in the region, people started to be alert. For example, the first confirmed case in the municipality was on March 19th, less than a month later, there are already 101.

What were the protective measures to contain Covid-19?

The local government has announced several measures to combat the coronavirus in Taboão da Serra. To the dismay of the public, all businesses and services, including bars and nightclubs, must remain closed until further notice. Business owners who open their establishments may have their operating licenses revoked.

Exception for operation in Taboão da Serra

Supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, street markets, bakeries, snack bars, stores that sell products for animals, butchers, gas stations, convenience stores and delivery services.

However, Governor Fernandes also reminded that even those businesses that remain open must avoid crowds and provide protection for their employees and customers, offering alcohol gel and carrying out extra cleaning. The city has been declared a state of public calamity.

What does the Governor of SP João Doria say?

As we report here, Dória decided to extend the quarantine for another 15 days in all 645 municipalities of São Paulo, until April 22.

According to the official publication, the decision was made after a meeting with 15 doctors from the Coronavirus Contingency Center, who pointed out that the contagion has already reached one hundred cities in São Paulo and more than 400 public and private hospitals.

Finally, according to the notifications, Projections indicate that extending social distancing could prevent more than 160,000 deaths across the state.
