Private and state schools will be closed for 15 days; and municipal schools for at least a week.
Next Monday (the 16th), classes in both the private and public schools in Rio de Janeiro will be suspended. The strike in Rio de Janeiro City Hall schools is expected to last at least a week. It is possible – and even plausible depending on the circumstances – that it will extend until the end of March.
These units will be open almost exclusively for children's lunch during this period. The cafeterias will serve students from 11 am to 1 pm.

The aim of the measure is to reduce the circulation of people. The municipal network has 626 thousand students; the state network, 700 thousand.
Private schools will also close for 15 days, according to the Private Schools Union.
