Government Authorizes Sale of 35 Union Properties in Espírito Santo and Two Other States

The government authorizes, this Tuesday (03), the sale of 35 properties owned by the Union in Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro.

Therefore, the ordinances of the Secretariat for Coordination and Governance of the Union's Assets, linked to the Ministry of Economy, were published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Monday. Therefore, according to the government's authorized rules, the properties will be sold through public bidding.

Of the total number of properties advertised, 30 are plots of land located in Campo Grande, ranging from 416 to 480 square meters. The other three properties, two buildings and one plot of land, are located in João Pessoa.

A building in the municipality of Cachoeiro do Itapemirim (ES) and a house in the city of Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin (RJ) were also included for sale. The federal government expects to raise up to R$1.4T 7 million from the auctions.

In short, in a post on Twitter, President Jair Bolsonaro said that the initiative is part of an effort to reduce public spending.

“The goal is to end the abandonment left by previous authorized governments and reduce the monstrous public debt,” he tweeted.

Trafficking properties

Last Friday (28), the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Sergio Moro, had already announced, also on Twitter, that this total of 612 properties confiscated from drug trafficking will soon be auctioned for recovery.

Detailed information about the properties was released by the National Secretariat for Drug Policies (Senad) and includes apartments, farms, land, buildings, lots, farms, ranches, warehouses, in different regions of the country.

According to Moro, 612 properties originating from drug trafficking will soon be auctioned.

Among the properties it is possible to find apartments, farms, land, buildings, lots, farms and warehouses in all regions of the country.

All assets confiscated from drug trafficking are available for immediate sale by the Secretariat for Coordination and Governance of the Union's Assets.
