This week, the federal government announced that it was necessary to open an extraordinary credit in the total amount of R$1.419 billion for actions to confront the public health emergency resulting from the new coronavirus (covid-19).
What will be the impacts of this new measure to combat the coronavirus? Will it be sufficient?
The president has been criticized from all sides for not taking concrete actions that actually have an effect in the fight against the coronavirus, but critics believe that this new government attitude could actually help in the fight against the invisible enemy.

How did this new Federal Government measure come about?
The opening of the credit is included in Provisional Measure 929, published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union this Wednesday, the 25th.
According to the text published this Wednesday, the Ministries of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications, Foreign Affairs, Defense and Citizenship will benefit from the resources.
Which sectors will be covered?
The Ministry of Science and Technology (which had previously suffered from a lack of resources) has received R$100 million for actions to combat COVID-19. This has left the ministry's technicians quite excited.
Furthermore, the measure also states that another R$ 62 million will be allocated to Foreign Relations; as R$ 220 million will be for Defense; and R$ 3.037 billion for the Citizenship portfolio, to reinforce the Social Inclusion program through Bolsa Família and the Articulation of Public Policies.
