Information about MC Dumel's death from coronavirus was released according to the singer's advisors. The artist was hospitalized in the ICU at Couto Maia Hospital since Sunday (12), when he received a positive result.
Funk artist Diego Albert Silveira Santos, 28, is rising in the funk world. He was better known as MC Dumel. According to Sesab, he is the 35th person to die from Covid-19 in Bahia.
Many Bahians did not believe it, but the information was confirmed by the artist's advisor and the Bahia State Health Department (Sesab) on Thursday night (16).
Coronavirus deaths in Bahia
The funk artist lived in Lauro de Freitas, metropolitan region of Salvador, and was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Couto Maia, in Salvador. According to the artist's press office, he was diagnosed with Covid-19 last Sunday (12).
MC Dumel, initially admitted to Menandro de Farias Hospital in Lauro de Freitas, in the Salvador Metropolitan Region. After testing positive for COVID-19, he was immediately transferred to Couto Maia Hospital.
The singer's family is still in shock
According to news also released by G1, on Wednesday (April 15), the singer's wife also tested positive for the new coronavirus. She is hospitalized in the same hospital as her husband, however, it is known that her condition is stable.
The press office reported that the funk singer and his wife traveled to Rio de Janeiro for work, and arrived with flu symptoms and a high fever for five days, but chose to stay at home.
Then the situation worsened, and the singer began experiencing severe shortness of breath and a high fever. MC Dumel was taken to the HGMF and, after triage, was immediately placed in isolation. On Friday morning, he was transferred to the ICU.
Fans mourned his death on social media
MC Dumel had over 103,000 Instagram followers who mourned him deeply. Besides his wife, he leaves behind a four-year-old son. Details about his wake and burial are not available.
