Performance

In a ranking, when compared to other states, Goiás appears as the 11th state with the highest household income. In relation to previous years, Goiás was, once again, below the national average and also lost two positions in relation to the year 2018.

It is worth remembering that the per capita household income is calculated as the ratio between the total household income (in nominal terms) and the total number of residents.

This is how income from work and other sources of all residents is considered, including those classified as pensioners, domestic employees and relatives of domestic employees.

The values are obtained from the gross income actually received in the reference month of the survey, accumulating information from the first interviews of the four quarters of the 2019 Continuous PNAD.

Although household research that, every quarter, captures socioeconomic and demographic information in around 211 thousand households, in approximately 16 thousand census sectors, distributed in around 3.5 thousand municipalities.

However, according to the study, 751% of people with the lowest incomes are black or mixed race. The unemployment rate is also higher among half of people who self-identify as black, women and young people.

Although gender and color or race were considered for data collection, when contrasting the differences by sex, the median per capita household income was R$ 928 for men and R$ 879 for women.

Thus, as a color or race category, the median per capita household income for a white person is R$ 999, and a self-declared black person is R$ 730.
