In Rio de Janeiro, the government announced that it will distribute vouchers worth R$100 to students in the state public education system. The measure aims to replace school meals, which were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The city government has already started distributing vouchers to students in the municipal education system who are part of the socioeconomic profile of extreme poverty and who are registered with Bolsa Família and receive government assistance through CadÚnico.

In addition to the voucher, a school meal card will be made available.

Application

In order to avoid crowds during deliveries, the vouchers will be delivered through a bill payment app. They can be installed on a cell phone. The State Department of Education announced that the app to be used and the date of distribution will be announced.

The education secretary reported that the possibility of a partnership that could increase the number of vouchers distributed is being evaluated.

“We are studying a partnership with the organization Comunitas to make the destruction of this resource viable for an even greater number of students,” said Fernandes.

The secretariat reported that some families should receive basic food baskets from the state through the Humanitarian Campaign. There is still no forecast for the deliveries.
