In Rio de Janeiro, the average fatality rate of Covid-19 is 4.4% of the total number of cases (1,074) that have been confirmed so far. The rate varies according to age group. This calculation is according to data released by the State Health Department on Friday night (3).
Of the 209 confirmed cases, in the 30 to 39 age group, there was only one death; The fatality rate is thus 0.5%o, which puts the fatality rate at 0.5%. In the group between 40 and 49 years old, with 214 cases, the rate rises to 1.4%, there were three deaths. And among those aged 50 to 59, the rate more than doubles, to 3.3%, forming five deaths in 153 cases. 
In the over-60 age group, the risk group, the fatality rate increases to 14.7%. There were 38 deaths among the 259 confirmed cases. This means that one in seven cases resulted in death.
According to the data, there are differences within the same risk group. The fatality rate is 11.8%, or 16 deaths among 135 cases, in the 60 to 69 age group. In the 70 to 79 age group, the rate is 12.6%, a situation of 10 deaths among the 79 cases. And in the group over 80 the fatality rate is 26.7%, 12 deaths among 45 registered cases. The data also show that the number of deaths in victims who were men is 60% of the total, 28 of the 47 deaths.
Cases in the Municipalities of Rio
The municipality that has so far had the highest number of deaths is the city of Rio with 36. In Volta Redonda there were two deaths. Deaths with Covid-19 records were also confirmed in Niterói, São Gonçalo, Arraial do Cabo, Petrópolis, Belford Roxo, Miguel Pereira, Rio Bonito, Rio das Ostras and São João de Meriti.
City of Rio
The city of Rio has the highest number of cases, with 867 in total. There are still 4,471 people who are suspected of having the infection, but have not been confirmed. Barra da Tijuca is at the top of the ranking of confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 97. The neighborhoods in the south zone come next: Copacabana has 63 cases, Leblon has 62, Ipanema has 50 and Botafogo has 39.
The municipality's fatality rate is 4.2%. The municipality's health network has so far recorded 72 hospitalizations in its hospitals, of which 22 people are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
