Nubank is a privately held Brazilian company, headquartered in São Paulo (Rua Capote Valente, 39 – São Paulo, SP – 05409-000), and was founded on May 6, 2013. Its founders are David Vélez Vagner S.Teves Jr (current CEO in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina), Edward Wible and Cristina Junqueira.
THE insight arose from the terrible and counterproductive experience that David Vélez had here in Brazil.
Between being stuck in revolving doors, waiting endlessly for the manager and still being faced with absurdly high fees, the realization dawned on him about how unnecessary all of that was for what he needed.
And with that, the idea of a digital 100% bank – for “reinvent the possible“.
The bank's first clients were him and his employees. Later, it began receiving investments from Sequoia and Kaszek Ventures, and in this way, it continued to grow.

Unicorn Startup
In 2018, Nubank achieved unicorn startup status by reaching a market price valuation of 1 billion US dollars, being the third Brazilian company with this mark to date.
Investors
Its investors include: Sequoia Capital, Kaszek Ventures, Tiger Global Management, Founders Fund, Goldman Sachs, QED Investors, DST Global, Redpoint Ventures, Ribbit Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, Thrive Capital and Tencent.
What is the difference between Nubank and traditional banks?
Nubank is 100% digital. No fees for transfers (TED and DOC).
Everything is handled through the app (including opening the account). Your money in the account yields more than savings.
Main Products
2017 was the year that Nubank introduced its benefits program, Nubank Rewards and NuConta.
This digital account is already used by more than 17 million Brazilians.
And in 2019, it even started offering loans to a select number of its customers.
NuAccount
NuConta has a debit function, with TED and DOC free of charge, the possibility of generating payment slips and sending them to whoever you want, directly from the app.
In addition to the ease of being able to transfer your salary and receive it directly into your account (and already yielding more than savings).
All money that enters the Nubank account is automatically earning 100% of the CDI every business day. Learn more.
Credit card
Perhaps what draws the most attention is the simple fact that Nubank is a bank free of monthly fees for current accounts.
In fact, if you pay your credit card installments in advance, you can also get discounts directly in the app.
Note: the card brand is MasterCard – and it is international.
There is a Gold and Platinum variation.
But these benefits are granted by the brand itself (MasterCard) and not by Nubank.

Nubank Rewards
This is Nubank's points program.
You can use it to receive discounts at restaurants and program partners, redeem flights and accommodations purchased on any website.
You can even quickly transfer your points to Smiles via the app.
As a customer, there is a R$ 19.90/month plan and a R$ 190.00/year plan.
Note: the first 30 days are free and you can cancel whenever you want through the app. Find out how it works.
Fees
TED and DOC are exempt from fees.
The only fee that stands out is on withdrawals (after all, we are talking about a digital bank). Nubank Debit has a fee of 6.50 (only when withdrawing).
Loan Simulator
Nubank allows – even recommends – that you simulate before deciding to sign up.
“By simulating before signing the contract, you can see how much and when you will pay for your loan. Everything is transparent, simple and clear on your screen.”
Simulator. Learn more.
Digital Security
“At Nubank, we develop simple, secure and 100% digital solutions so that you can literally have control of your money in your hands. We value our customers and understand how important cybersecurity is for them to enjoy our services with peace of mind.
The security of your information is in our DNA and we provide here a summary of our Cybersecurity Policy so that you can learn a little more about our guidelines for protecting your data.” Learn more.

Corporate Account
Last year (2019), Nubank launched the PJ account, which is an account format aimed at entrepreneurs, small business owners and self-employed workers.
The goal, as always, is to “debureaucratize” the relationship between the person and the bank. In this case, the bureaucracy related to legal accounts.
Savings
You won't need it, the money in the account already yields more than the savings account.
Community, Newsletter and Blog
The Nubank website also has an official community (NuCommunity) to ask questions, a blog to explore certain topics (Fala, Nubank) and a newsletter to have a direct email connection with whoever you prefer.
Is it worth opening an account?
If you want a digital 100% account, without unnecessary bureaucracy, where just having your money there already yields more than savings, the answer is clearly yes!
In a bank where everything is resolved through the app, with innovative, extremely simple and practical features.
And all this without fees. Yes. It's worth opening an account with Nubank. And you'll even get a purple card.
Can anyone open an account?
Nubank is a little more exclusive than other digital banks.
It helps if you receive an invitation. But anyone can request an analysis, both to open the account and to enable the credit function. Download the app and check.
Open Positions
The website also provides an exclusive page for those who want to “join the revolution“Where they delve into the details of career possibilities within the company, as well as its pillars and vision.
Nubank started in an innovative way and intends to continue that way. So if you want to do something new, there lies an opportunity. Learn more.
