The biggest Easter celebration in Brazil begins this Thursday (12) in Pomerode. The 12th Osterfest expects to welcome around 250,000 people by April 12. Admission is free, as are most attractions, which are open Thursday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For this edition, one of the country's most renowned visual artists, Romero Britto, designed the world's largest decorated egg. The flowers, hearts, circles, and lines create a fun and thought-provoking ensemble. The creation took over a month and was led by visual artist João Siqueira.
Another record-breaking event for the festival is the world's largest Osterbaum (Easter tree), with approximately 100,000 colorful natural eggshells. In 2020, it was assembled differently, following the giant egg's vibrant color palette. The eggshells were arranged into blocks, creating a unique visual effect.
Attractions and news
However, traditional attractions such as cone painting and artisanal cookie workshops remain on the program. There are also cultural performances, a craft fair, a hand-painted egg exhibition, train and pony rides, and much more.
So, what's new this year is the Easter concert, with two performances: April 4th and 11th, at 7pm.
