Research shows that chloroquine can cause serious heart problems

Contrary to popular belief and what is spread on the internet, chloroquine is not the solution to Covid-19, yes, that is what a group of scholars concluded, after it was announced that this would be a definitive end to the pandemic.

In Brazil, 11 people died after using chloroquine as a possible solution. After this tragic event, health authorities immediately stopped using or recommending the drug. But what did they discover? It was found that a high dose of the drug in patients can lead to severe arrhythmia or irregular heartbeats.

The research on the use of chloroquine has not been reviewed by members of the scientific academy or published in industry journals; it has only been published on a virtual health information server called medRxiv.

What does the research say? It cites 81 patients who were hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms in the state of Manaus. But this was before the laboratory confirmed that they had the disease, and the patients were included in the study.

Researchers prove that chloroquine is not the cure

The director of science and technology of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology and professor at InCor, Ludhmila Abrahão Hajja, made an important warning about the use of the drug, in an interview with the Brazilian press she said:

Chloroquine is not a vaccine. It is being seen as a savior, and it is not. But if you say that, you will start to get hit because it has become a national issue of pressure. But the scientific reality is this: there is no evidence whatsoever of its effectiveness.”.

The director, who was part of the commission of experts that met with the current president of Brazil, Bolsonaro, two weeks ago to discuss the use of chloroquine, said she warned the president about the lack of evidence on the use of the drug.

However, those who defend the medication continue to spread the lie, but we need to bring more concrete information, because we are in a serious situation.

Ludhmila also reported that “adverse effects should not be negligible.” She explained that arrhythmia is more unlikely to occur when a person has a healthy heart, but that we must remember that “up to 401% of patients infected with Covid-19 have some type of injury to the cardiovascular system.”

Finally, the doctors involved in the research said that the data gathered by this closed study provided evidence that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, both used to treat malaria, can cause significant damage in some patients, specifically in cases where there is some problem related to the heart, so, dear readers, stick to the official information and the recommendations of experts.
