Portos No Paraná Consegue Aumento Nas Cargas De Granéis 14 de fevereiro de 2020

According to data released this Monday (10), by the public company Portos do Paraná, more than 55% of the movement (1.9 million tons) is still solid bulk.

Since the greatest growth is in shipments and unloadings of liquid bulk (25% compared to the previous year) and general cargo (increase of 19%).

According to Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná, since it has the capacity and structure to handle different types of cargo.

With agility and efficiency, it ensures that the port maintains its activity, jobs and investments, without depending on a single type of product.

From the same point of view, multimodality was essential to reach the historic mark of 53.2 million tons moved in 2019.

Although it was a year with a lot of rain, exchange rate fluctuations and a lot of competition in the international market, which had a direct impact on soybean exports.

Productivity

With a positive effect in the first month of 2020, the ports of Paraná handled 610.37 thousand tons of liquid bulk, while in the previous month it was 487,835 tons.

The movement of vegetable oils, mainly soybean, was 27,548 tons in January. The volume is 6% higher than that recorded.

Due to the significant exports we had at the beginning of the year, unlike previous years, the price of the product on the Argentine market.

The Argentines, our main competitor in exports to the Asian market, were charging higher prices than the Brazilian ones. So, we ended up looking for the Brazilian market.

The main consumers of vegetable oil exported through the Port of Paranaguá are China and India, however the expectation for the year is a reduction.

The reduction in the export of vegetable oils, motivated by the increase in the blend of biodiesel in diesel oil, which is provided for in a national decree (from 11 to 12%).

The expected reduction, however, does not bother the operator, that is, the expected reduction in soybean oil exports is in line with the expected increase.

In January, the ports of Paraná handled 917,855 tons of general cargo, that is, the volume is 19% greater than that recorded in the first month of 2019.
