The City of Santo André took another important step towards regulating telephone antennas in the city, which could result in an internet signal 5G in the coming years.
Although on the afternoon of this Monday (17), representatives of the Executive met with the companies that own and operate telephone services, to discuss the Antenna Law.
The Antenna Law was presented to the participants, who were then able to have their questions clarified. The Acto System, which will be used for licensing towers and antennas, was also presented to the public.

The event was attended by 38 people. Among them were representatives from companies such as Tim, Claro, Vivo and Brazil Tower, as well as Abrintel (Brazilian Telecommunications Infrastructure Association).
For the Secretary of Development and Job Creation, Evandro Banzato, the presence of companies that own and operate telephone services was important for the municipality to move forward.
“This important advancement in the city is a joint effort between the City Hall and the private sector that will place Santo André at the forefront and as a model for other cities in Brazil. This way, we will have more and more Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, among many other technological and economic development actions in the city.
All this discussion encourages the actions of our Technology Park. This interconnection only makes sense from the moment we have the infrastructure ready to meet the demands in our city”, he said.
The Antenna Law provides for the installation of support infrastructure for telecommunications equipment, as well as Radiocommunication Transmitter Stations (ETR).
The direct action of the Santo André City Hall in regulating the issue with legislation that is already considered a reference in the country allows for the permanent evolution and modernization of this telecommunications infrastructure.
With this action, it will be possible to implement the 5G network in the municipality, new monitoring technologies and intelligent management of the city.

According to the president of Abrintel, Santo André is among the most advanced cities in Brazil for the installation of 5G. “We are talking about a change in technology for the next two or three years.
If the cities' problems in this regard are not resolved at this time, there is no point in trying to resolve them at the end of the next terms.
Santo André is taking a big step towards entering a select group of cities that have modern laws that meet the needs of the future, as Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte and São José dos Campos do today,” he said.
